AYMP was founded in 2018 by two women who have a love for aviation.

Aida Mehari

- Chairwoman

Ms. Mehari serves as the Chairwoman of the Board for AYMP, Inc. Aida has over 14 years of aviation experience and plays a key role in Air Traffic Control Systems for the National Air Space and its initiatives. Ms. Mehari currently supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a lead engineer and mentors young aviators especially girls and shares her experience and journey from Sweden to the United States.

Ms. Mehari has extensive experience in aircraft engines, aviation safety, engineering configuration management, maintaining system requirements, and deployment. Aida loves to engage in STEM and prides herself in enriching others on the benefits of aviation when learning engineering principles. Most significantly she thrives on diversity and incorporating people into teams and recognizing and integrating varied skillsets which sets her apart as a leader.

Ms. Mehari graduated from Malardalen University in Vasteras, Sweden with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Aida grew up in Sweden with diverse background and speaks more than four languages fluently.

Melinda Viteri

Mrs. Viteri is a British-qualified elementary and high school teacher and has twenty years of experience teaching at public and private schools in the United Kingdom and the USA.

Mrs. Viteri's incredible career has spanned from one continent to another, Mrs. Viteri has for the past five years working at the British International School of Washington DC teaching Kindergarten and then as a Learning Specialist Lead and MIT Coordinator for STEM Build a Plane. She established her own aviation nonprofit in 2015 in the USA and loves to rebuild airplanes with middle and high school students. She is the Education Chair for the Royal Aeronautical Society and site on several aerospace boards.

Mrs. Viteri graduated from the University of Huddersfield, England where she gained qualified teacher status and believes that teaching is a vocation. At the age of twenty-five, Mrs. Viteri pursued her Master’s Degree in Deaf Education, Speech Therapy, and Audiology. She worked as an Advisory Specialist to the government for Deaf and Blind Children in the United Kingdom and was the Chair of the Deaf Children’s Society UK.
